Sad news hope they can be rescued, but Eastern Airways has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
Under this latest business move, the company has 10 days to address its fiscal problems before it goes under.
Launched in the year 1997, Eastern Airways has served destinations in England and Scotland.
The carrier reported a £19.7 million net loss for the year to March 2024, with total debt amounting to £26 million.
The development risks flight cancellations for up to 800,000 passengers, including those using its key charter services for Premier League and rugby teams.
Administrators could step in if rescue efforts failed, which would transfer the control of the company and stopping operations immediately.
Really doesn’t surprise me, Loganair barely manages to make a profit, and that’s with money being fed to it every so often from the government. Is a shame, but bound to happen.
I think its the parent company that’s going into administration, been all over the radio today. They lost a contract to do a Dutch wind farm and filed. Sucks, wanted to go next year up to Scotland to try and fly the jetstream.
That’s really sad. They only do scrapping at St Athan I believe. A lot of Jet 2s went down there. Need to put it on display at the aviation park in MAN
From what I saw, they are going for storage vice scrapping, as the 2 previous retired 757s were still there in their full Condor livery a couple of weeks ago. Might be wrong though, as it doesn’t seem to be overly certain what’s going on with these 757s after their time at Condor, look at the Icelandair 300s for example.
Nah, not physically possible for them haha, they prioritise profit which is fair enough, but i think they’d make a huge profit expanding euroflyer to Manchester Newcastle Birmingham and Glasgow. Possibly even Cardiff or Belfast too.
Even turning Cityflyer into a more prominent regional airline would be a good start, as Cityflyer does seem to be BAs answer to routes that don’t involve London.
They did some leisure routes out of MAN as well at some point including a weekly flight to LCY, I know they are launching Glasgow to Palma next summer.
