In the video you can see a couple of Spirit planes parked up which is a sad sight.
It wouldn’t be the same thing because even if it came down on the highway and skidded the rest of the way onto the airfield, there is no embankment. You might have seen gear shear off or similar, and it wouldn’t have been good by any means, but the plane wouldn’t have broken in two

The UAE has signed a contract with Embraer for 10 C-390 Millenium aurcraft to replace its C-130H and L-100-30 Hercules transports, reversing a previous decision to opt for the C-130J Super Hercules. It is understood that key to this decision was an agreement that Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul for the fleet would be undertaken in partnership with a UAE company.

That said this entire thing is something out of my nightmares as someone from a trucking family, no idea Joe they got approval to land aircraft on that runway if this is something that could happen
I mean in theory it’s long enough as it’s about 6400 feet I think, the shortest runway a 764 can land on is about 5000-6000 I think, but I agree aircraft that big should never have clearance to land on a runway that short.
Agreed, I bet the captain mabe thought it was a little too short slo he wanted to come in slower and lower
But my fricken goodness, that was way too close.
In fact a DC10 (very similar to MD11 which was grounded too due to the similarities) took its first flight 3-4 days ago and burst one of its tires while landing (It is the Orbis flying eye hospital)
