I think I have seen fog before… It truely looks like this screenshot.
Dubai was hinted a while ago with an old screenshot, and Kai tak has been talked about a lot (beleive I made a thread about what could come with it since a lot of us thought it would be Kai tak next not SXM)
Yeah that’s what I was going off of, just things the devs have said.
Also, if you guys haven’t heard, we’re expecting a devblog tomorrow, and since they’ve been working on it for over a week I wonder if it’s gonna have some really juicy info.
What I presume might be the final devblog before release?
I can’t say for sure, but I would expect that to be the case. What I can say is that I’ve heard from the mods and they have said that at this point, it is extremely unlikely that the update will be delayed further past Q2, so we can expect it in the next month or by June.
Lots of great news, everyone. The devblog is out and revealed the new Prague model, WOA’s Flightradar24, and new jet bridges with passengers in them. Kubasan also popped in the WOA discord for an impromptu Q&A session, and I will summarize all the excellent news from that below.
Here is what is confirmed for the new update (some screenshots below):
• SXM will be free for all players! This was done as a sort of apology for the long wait. No need to grind pax at LEJ.
• Despite the major graphical improvements, the devs have tested the game on lower end devices and it still performs well. 2.0 will have lots of optimization changes as well.
• All handling service vehicles have been remodeled.
• At long last, L aircraft will have two jetbridges connected.
• The last things being worked on for the update, that we know, are data storage, UI improvements, and player cooperation.
• Random player arrivals are returning as part of contracts. They will have greater rewards than standard contracts but will be less common. There will also be an option for players to turn it off if they wish.
• Unarmed military aircraft will be returning for specific airports, however Russian airlines will remain banned for the duration of the Ukraine invasion.
• The new Flight Tracker will track both player and airline owned aircraft, and each airport will have its own radar showing flights to and from each airport.
• WOA will include new ATC features in addition to handling. To compensate for this, new ramp agents and managers can be assigned to complete most of the handling for a fee. Details are still a little unclear.
The long-awaited Ask the Developer 2023 will open this Friday, May 5th on discord. If you are unable to join, I will be more than happy to sum up the information upon request.
And here are things that were hinted at for 2.0 as well as confirmed/hinted for future updates (remember, subject to change)
• The next update after 2.0 will have a new airport, and it will be in a new continent! (One not already in the game)
• Alliances are expected to be added in the following update as well! The return of random player aircraft is a testbed for that new feature.
• Prague may be getting a second usable runway
• Wind conditions and selectable runways may also be added.
• Washington may be getting more usable runways, but not anytime soon.
And that’s it. I will update this post if any information is missing or inaccurate.
Based on this information I think we should call the game WOW(A) from now on
.
I’m going to imagine player cooperation is the updated connections system?
I agree ![]()
I’m not sure to be honest, that would be my guess. Could also be referring to the return of random player arrivals?
Maybe it’s revering to both together, as it seems the player planes will now be based off contracts as well? Bit of a grey zone that
Does anyone know if our own planes are shown on the updated flight radar, completely misread it and thought it was the 2D map on the devblog ![]()
Yep they do, they’ll show up alongside airlines. Which makes me wonder, do we give our planes flight numbers? Or will it default to its tail number?
It would be great to set flight numbers per route, and see the flight numbers of all aircraft increase or decrease by 1 halfway through the handling process.
At least with me asking about the 2D radar we know that player planes are on there at least, but makes me wonder about the call signs, unless we keep our registrations and that’s it. But it would be nice to have a written registration on our aircraft.
Wow just wow…
I mean all of this actually worth the long wait…
I’m glad that we’ll get SXM for free, as it don’t like to grind for airports. I guess it’s called update 2.0 for a reason.
Just read Devblog #9 and it seems that the game is shifting from “aircraft handling” to “Tower control” and “Airline management”.
Yes, I am bit worried about that too. Lets hope that the root mechanics of the game will remain untouched. If I remember it was written that it will be option to hire ramp agent to help. So it would still be possible to handle the aircraft without him/her. It can be costy thing to have such stuff hired.
it seem like “deal manager” would cost 50sp for handling plane automaticaly.
and how about green button that speed up timer handling that cost wollar ?
My thoughts exactly. Luckily I have build up a huge stash of SP’s, which may be the coin for rampagent support, just as the Deal manager.
So your prediction is that 2.0 game focus more on airport and control tower management than fleet manager?
My guess is the primary focus is fleet management and building your own routes. The only control you have is assigning your fleet of airplanes to what gate you want them to park. The flying and taxiing is done automatically.
