Why should this aircraft be added?
A beloved aircraft by some that is sadly disappearing from many fleets. The aircraft has had a fairly short life span, being introduced in 1999 with its last delivery in 2006. It would add a unique bit of aviation heritage and would add some realism as Delta uses it on their routes between ATL and IAD.

Special characteristics or variants
The Boeing 717 was developed after the merger between Boeing and McDonnell Douglas and was originally called the McDonnell Douglas MD-95. It was developed and based on the DC-9 family of aircraft, including other predecessors such as the MD-80.

As far as I know, they only use McDonnell Douglas MD-80 family aircraft, not the 717 (would’ve been MD-95).

IDK how this doesn’t already exist in game. If the Fokker jets can be in the game than this plane needs to be too.

It just wasn’t modelled initially and new aircraft types haven’t all been added. Devs have said they like to add whole families together, hence the upcoming A340’s, the previous A330 update we just had and the 737’s are going from 3 pax and 2 freighters to 9 regular pax (maybe 10 if the 900 and ER are independent) plus at least 2 MAX’s, not including the several new freighter types.

Very likely the 717 is waiting in the wings with the MD90 and MD80 family, maybe even with the DC9 included too. So it’s a big job for them and sadly not as much of a cash cow as the 737s.

Considering the addition of the C909, I’m surprised there’s no word on the 717, MD-80 or DC-9 families (including freighter variants)

“Well, since I’m here… let’s check the MD80/90 as well.”

Honestly since the release of the ARJ, I knew the 717 and rest of the maddogs wouldn’t be to far away.

Would love to see Delta’s 717 in game before they eventually retire them
