:pushpin: Airline Overview (Wikipedia)
Trans World Airlines (TWA) was a major airline in the United States that operated from 1930 until it was acquired by American Airlines in 2001. It was formed as Transcontinental & Western Air to operate a route from New York City to Los Angeles via St. Louis, Kansas City, and other stops, with Ford Trimotors. With American, United, and Eastern, it was one of the “Big Four” domestic airlines in the United States formed by the Spoils Conference of 1930.

Believe they also used A320s but not 100% sure on it. Definitely can be added for special arrivals as we have other old airline such as VARIG

As far as I can tell, these are all the aircraft they ever owned:

Maybe they just ordered a320s before going bust. My mistake

Yeah they were set to become the first US operator of the A318, not sure about 320s though

Supposed to receive the A318s in 2003 so 2 years after being slurped up. also were supposed to receive A330s in 1994 but it kept getting postponed due to the airline being bankrupt throughout the 90s.

Would be a cool one to have seen,

TWA had such a poor history. The airline was bullied for years and had so much debt it was on its last legs in the 1990s, TWA - Death Of A Legend | St. Louis Magazine - repeatedly robbed blind especially after being bought up by the asset striper that was Carl Icahn. They were rumoured to be purchasing other A320 family aircraft but we’ll now never know what they were.

Does marvel me that TWA in the repeated stages of bankruptcy, was able to change its livery from a snazzy recognisable one to whatever this thing is above.

TWA 763, 752 and 712,

On the subject of aircraft airline had ordered but not received prior to bankruptcy, I wonder if we’ll ever see such aircraft, like A350s for US Airways or American Airlines or the above. Would bring the airlines into a new age. Likely TWA would’ve become a fully Airbus airline in the modern age but may still have been rocking the 717s like Delta is.

Would love to see it one day…

My great grandfather flew the DC9s for TWA! I think I actually prefer the last livery, do wish Pan Am and TWA lasted longer
