Wiki says 2 727-200’s were operated but I believe they were the TAN ones and weren’t repainted as no photos exist of them in SAHSA or even TAN-SAHSA colours.
Why should this airline be added?
Founded in January 1945 with the help of Pan Am and beginning ops in that October, it was 40% owned by Pan Am, 40% by the Honduran government and 20% by other investors. Its first aircraft was a DC2 which flew within the country. The airline expanded over the 1950s and 60s before in 1970, Pan Am sold its stake to rival airline TAN of Honduras. The owner of the new TAN-SAHSA, the president, forbade any US airlines flying into the country until he was given the boot in 1975 with US airlines then flooding in. At the time of TAN taking over, both airline received their first 737-200, with SAHSA using it on their flight to New Orleans and Miami (So a perfect addition for MSY).
In 1990, both airlines merged into TAN-SAHSA but this name was dropped at the end of 1991 with just SAHSA emerging which is why the 737-400’s only wore the former as 1 left for Transbrasil and 2 for VASP at the end of that year. In 1994, the airline collapsed due to corruption and the poor safety record.
It could make for a great addition as a special, with the 737-200 seeing service to MSY which is in-game. The 737-400 could, at least in my strange view of how my airports operate haha, fly as a regular contract option from Honduras, giving the country a unique livery and type and more colour at player’s airports. It’s a really stunning livery and would be fab to see.
