Why should this airline be added?
XL Airways began in 1994 as Sabre Airways, rebranding to Excel Airways in 2001, before finally changing their name in November 2006 to XL Airways due to that being what the British public called them. They operated as the airline side of XL Leisure Group which was one of the major tour operators in the UK competing with the like of Thomas Cook, Thomson and Monarch. The group purchased Star Airlines of France and their sister operation Star Europe of Germany, rebranding them as XL Airways France, an airline I’ll do a post of soon, and XL Airways Germany, GXL - XL Airways Germany (Defunct Airlines) . XL Leisure Group went into administration in September 2008 taking XL Airways with it, but both the German airline and French airline remained.It has a striking livery that is a beautiful shade of blue and served a lot of people in the UK to their holidays in Europe and the Caribbean throughout the 2000s. Would be an interesting livery to see at players airports.
