Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
This airport would be good because it would allow for seaplanes like the DHC-2 to be added in the game, and would have probably some of the best looking scenery in the game probably like modern architecture, the Rockies, and the Pacific Ocean. Its looks very good at night because of said modern architecture It also has a pretty big De-Icing center so this airport could be the first one to actually have planes taxiing to the de-icing spot instead of doing it at the gate. It was also ranked North Americas best airport for I’m pretty sure 25 years in a row but came second behind Seattle in recent times. However, it has since reclaimed that spot in 2024-25. It was also ranked a top 10 airport in the world a couple times. Plus it would also make sense for North America because we already have a Central America airport, we already have 3 U.S. airports, so it would kind of make sense for Canada to come next, and I think this is the best option.

Finally someone mentioned Vancouver! Canada is a vast country - it definitely deserves at least one playable airport, right? Located on the Pacific side with reasonable distances to Anchorage, Honolulu, and San Diego, I think it would be a great choice!

Well with charlie slighty hinting that we could get a canadian airport in the future, I thought I’d share a few more of my favourite yvr images to show why this is my favourite canadian airport and the one I think we should get in WOA! I also included some historical images, so that one day, we can maybe get some more canadian 747 events other than air canada -100(Which would be perfect because Canadian airlines based their 747s at yvr)

Its also one of the few airports still served by the 747-400, which is cool

If we get YVR along with the adjacent seaplane terminal and Harbour Air, we gotta have their Canadian Flag livery (this picture not at the Airport South Seaplane terminal but at the Coal Harbor terminal - just chosen as an example of another potential livery.) This livery is also flown on a DHC2 and DHC3 to my knowledge.

Kenmore air flights should also be considered if they did seaplanes. I still just can’t see yvr tho, yet. I think the devs seem far overcommitted right now, and adding seaplanes just doesn’t seem feasible yet.

Agreed on the latter part. With the cargo update having been in the works for going on (maybe past?) two years since the first C30J and C17 were teased, and the 737 family being such a huge project, I imagine the next airport will be along the lines of something that directly benefits one or both of those. Which brings me back to ANC… but thats an even larger seaplane base. I can’t see all of that coming at once (though thats the sort of change that would justify a 4.0 release so who knows…)

Oh and lets not forget bizjets, which probably would have priority over seaplanes too. But I feel like if we got seaplanes, having both anc and yvr would be nice, for the chance at having player connections using the seaplanes between the two airports

I feel like Seaplanes might actually be the easier addition than General Aviation / Business Jets, given that every airport in the game would likely need to be updated with GA / BJ stands, with new taxiway logic for those stands. I guess they could just get added as airlines such as JSX and Ultimate, but I am personally hoping for something more from a BJ focused update (which is also high on my personal list). Seaplanes wouldn’t require an update to any airport currently in the game as far as I’m aware and could be treated as a new feature at only a small number of airports.

Likely 8L and and 8R for both landings and takeoffs with operations similar to SCL, minimizing taxi times and keeping the airport full
